The MMRDA has allotted almost half of this year’s Rs 6,976 crore budget for Metro projects. Out of the Rs 3273.25 crore allocated for Metro projects, Rs 1,000 crore each has been earmarked for Metro VII (Dahisar-Andheri) and Metro II-A( DN Nagar-Dahisar). Another Rs 800 crore has been allotted for the Metro III (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) underground corridor. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis approved the MMRDA’s budget for 2017-18.
The MMRDA also approved the new 13km Dahisar east-Mira Road-Bhayander Metro IX. This route will have 10 stations and its total cost is Rs.6,518 crore.
The allocations for other route are: Metro IV (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Mulund-Kasarvadavali) Rs 200 crore, Metro V (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) Rs 5 crore, Metro VI (Swami Samarth Nagar-JVLR-Vikhroli) Rs 5 crore
The second phase of the Monorail corridor running from Wadala to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk has received Rs 208 crore and a provision of Rs 75 crore has been made for the improvement of Bandra-Kurla Complex.
A sum of Rs 50 crore has been provided for extending Santacruz-Chembur Link Road. A sum of Rs.300 crore has been earmarked for the development of water resources. The 403-million litres daily Surya regional water supply scheme has been undertaken for the Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar civic bodies and the rental housing scheme in the metropolitan area. A budgetary provision of Rs 50 crore has been made for the Ambedkar memorial.
