Where do Indian Expats rent properties in Dubai?

Located just a couple of hours from India, Dubai remains one of the subcontinent’s top expat destinations. From those who have been in Dubai almost as long as the city itself to those who have just moved here, Indian expats love the attractive salaries, better standard of living, not to mention the similar cultural values to their home town.

Here’s a look at five popular areas for Indian expats to rent in Dubai:

Part of the original city of Dubai, it’s unsurprising that Bur Dubai is home to several long-term Indian residents. Newcomers however especially love the buzzing vibe of the neighbourhood, metro stations (helpful since the Indian driving license cannot be converted into a UAE one) and the plethora of delicious dining options specialising in cuisines from every region in India (and practically the world, really). In fact, so popular are these restaurants that an app was recently launched to deliver food from the area to “new” Dubai, like the Marina..

When referring to Sheikh Zayed Road, the majority of residents are referring to the stretch from the World Trade Centre to roughly around Safa Park. Despite being on the city’s major highway, Sheikh Zayed Road is relatively calmer than Bur Dubai, with plenty of convenient amenities (most buildings have their own groceries that deliver), metro stations and quick access to Dubai Mall and Downtown. The many towering skyscrapers in this area have been around for years, and are known for their impeccable finishes and building facilities like pools and gyms.

Families looking to move away from the bustle of the city love living in one of the self-contained sub-communities of DIP (Ewan, Ritaj and the Green Community). NRIs enjoy the relative affordability of the peaceful neighbourhood, not to mention the sheer range of facilities like community centres, children’s parks as well accessibility to two of the city’s major highways, Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. The area also boasts two well-known schools, Greenfield Community and Dovecote Primary school, ideal for families with little ones!

Victory Heights is proving to be a hit among NRIs with families! The serene, lush gated community feels a world away from the rest of Dubai, despite being located just off Hessa Street. Residents love the peace of the neighbourhood while knowing that popular supermarket Al Maya as well as the multitude of fitness options in Sports City are just next door. And for families with budding football players, the highly acclaimed Socatots Training Academy is there too!

As one of Nakheel’s fastest growing developments, Al Furjan’s popularity skyrocketed with the opening of a brand new community centre. Housing shops, salons, a supermarket as well as a medical centre, the neighbourhood is also favoured by families looking for a more relaxed lifestyle that’s not overrun by traffic and long drives to the rest of Dubai!

And of course, there are other communities that will always remain a hit with the city’s ever growing Indian expat population, from Karama, Deira to popular villas destinations such as Arabian Ranches and The Springs.
